Mountain View, Calif., January 9, 2017 - Polaris Wireless, the global leader in high-accuracy, software-based wireless location solutions, announced today that it has been named the winner of the 2017 Mobility Award for Mobile Software Indoor Positioning Systems. The award was presented at the International CES trade show last week in Las Vegas.
"Polaris Wireless was selected winner of the 2017 Mobility Award by a Selection Committee consisting of 88 analysts and members of the press," said J. Gerry Purdy, Ph.D., Principal Analyst, Mobile and Wireless for AOTMP. The Mobility Awards recognizes the best and finest mobile and wireless products and services. In particular, Polaris Wireless won the 2017 Mobility Award for Location Based Services because of their ongoing commitment and successful technology development that Polaris Wireless serves in providing wireless location solutions, particularly in very challenging indoor environments.
"We are very pleased to have been selected winner of this Mobility Award by AOTMP," said Tarun Bhattacharya, CTO of Polaris Wireless. "Since our founding in 1999, Polaris Wireless has been committed to evolving our software-based technology and solutions to meet the increasing demands of the FCC for public safety and of our commercial and government customers. We have also proven the success of our hybrid solution in challenging indoor environments."
Polaris Wireless recently concluded participation in an independent industry testing of emerging location technologies in indoor environments. The FCC requires 50m accuracy in 80% of calls phased in over six years from the adoption of the rules in 2015. Polaris Wireless software-based hybrid location solution delivered 50m accuracy in 85% of indoor calls, exceeding requirements of the FCC's most stringent indoor location accuracy mandate, which isn't required to be met until 2021. Further, Polaris Wireless' location solution not only delivers compliant horizontal accuracy, but also provides vertical location, years ahead of the FCC mandate for establishing a vertical accuracy requirement.
Polaris Wireless has been a leader in providing wireless location solutions from the earliest days of the industry, already meets future accuracy mandates, and remains committed to developing capabilities ahead of their need.
