Polaris Wireless announced floor-level vertical location just over one year ago, and since then we have progressed our activities to bring this innovative technology to serve a wide variety of use cases, with more to follow. Some of the past year’s highlights include:
- There has been nothing short of a revolution in the use of location technology in public safety, where quickly and accurately location emergency callers and field personnel is mission-critical. We are seeing public safety agencies seek higher accuracy solutions with a focus on the more challenging environments of indoor and vertical location. Device-based location from iOS and Android is lagging in the marketplace whereas software-based hybrid Z-axis technology from Polaris is leading innovation. There is still work to be done, as some public safety agencies are lagging behind and the FCC still needs to establish a z-axis benchmark for e911, but awareness of this game-changing technology is building rapidly.
- Application developers are increasingly adopting high-accuracy 3D location as part of their toolkits and Polaris Wireless is excited to be growing our network of partners. Since launching our 3D Location Platform, we have announced several exciting partnerships, including Orion Labs, with whom we’re partnering for public safety and hospitality, and Mark43, who we will help in their efforts with police and fire departments. We look forward to additional exciting announcements coming soon!
- With our strong foundation in public safety, Polaris Wireless is exploring new verticals where high-accuracy vertical location is the key to driving better customer experiences, increasing employee safety and efficiency, and leapfrogging competitors. We see strong potential in healthcare, enterprise security, and other industries where Location as a Service (LaaS) represents the future.
As you can see, a lot has happened in the past year and there is no sign of slowing down. Polaris Wireless is promoting the awareness of the current availability of 3D location in many verticals, and we continue to refine our technology and increase its accuracy and utility. So, expect more exciting news as we look ahead to our next year of innovating 3D location.
